County approves temporary siren and radio site MOU with testing schedule

Billings County commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow temporary siren and radio equipment to be installed on county property, with the county providing power and mounting. Emergency Manager Kyle Shockley told the board the equipment is temporary through Sept. 30, 2026, and that operational testing is scheduled to be completed by May 15, 2026.
Chairman Dean Rodne moved to approve the SIRN Site MOU, and the motion carried unanimously. The agreement was presented as a short-term measure to support communications testing and emergency alerting; the county did not commit to long-term hosting in the minutes. The board did not record any dissent or conditions beyond the testing deadline.
