Parks & Recreation board reports YMCA program growth and Tree City USA designation

Casey Taylor, chair of the Parks & Recreation Board, briefed council on program participation numbers at the YMCA and other community offerings. "For the youth registration numbers, basketball had 349, volleyball had a 182, and fencing had 49," Taylor said, and added swim lessons rose from 87 in January to 110 in February.
Taylor highlighted that the City of Huber Heights has obtained Tree City USA designation from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and described an Arbor Day tree-and-plant giveaway for April 25 supported by a National Wildlife Federation reimbursement grant of $1 per seedling up to $300. She also previewed upcoming events including a monarch-pledge proclamation March 23 and a heritage-tree proclamation April 19.
