City manager lists spring events, Bradford pear removals and Powell Road closure

Russell also described a grant-funded effort to remove invasive Bradford pear trees along roadway corridors because “they're known to be structurally weak” and can fall into the travel lane during storms; the city plans to replace the removed trees with more suitable species. He said the administration will provide an inventory of the trees on request. On infrastructure, staff announced Powell Road would be closed for about 11 weeks for a project to straighten the curve; homeowners will retain driveway access during construction. The manager said staff will follow up with details and timelines as construction is scheduled.
