At the May 11 meeting the council administered oaths of office for mayor Eddie Allen and council members Rex Hoskins (Place 1), Amanda Cross (Place 3) and Mike McQuiston (Place 5). The oath was led by the city clerk and each new member recited the standard statutory oath.
Council then addressed organizational items, recommending that existing board seats and committee assignments remain largely unchanged. Council discussed who would serve as mayor pro tem, deputy mayor pro tem and as the city’s representative to the North Texas Council of Governments (COG); Eddie Allen was named as the COG appointee and Amanda Cross volunteered to serve as the conference center liaison.
Staff presented customary tokens of appreciation for outgoing members and recognized the service of departing councilors. The council then moved on to the regular agenda.
