Board finalizes 2026 meeting calendar and committee assignments; rules update to be reviewed

The board approved a schedule for its 2026 meetings: generally the third Tuesday of each month with two exceptions — April meetings on the second Tuesday and October on the fourth Tuesday — and regular start times of 9:00 a.m.; meetings in March, May and September will begin at 6:00 p.m. All meetings are scheduled to be held at the Board of Commissioners Room, 415 Third Street, Manistee, "unless otherwise posted."
The minutes list standing committees and member assignments for 2026, including the Executive/Joint Court Committee (Jeffrey Dontz, Richard Schmidt and others), Green Team/Recycling (Nikki Koons chair), Policy/Personnel (Karen Goodman chair), Public Safety (Karen Goodman chair) and Ways & Means/Finance/IT (Eric Gustad chair), along with many special assignments and external board liaison roles. Changes to the Rules of Order and Procedure were requested and Lisa Sagala will review relevant Michigan law (MCL 46.11) and present updates at the Jan. 20 meeting.
