The Manistee County Board of Commissioners convened its organizational meeting on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners Room at 415 Third Street. Chairperson Jeff Dontz called the meeting to order, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Commissioner Karen Goodman gave the invocation; Clerk Shelli Johnson recorded roll call, noting Commissioners Nikki Koons and Janice McCraner arrived at 9:03 a.m.
The board approved the meeting agenda and proceeded through routine organizational business, including nominations and the election of a vice-chair, adoption of a meeting schedule for 2026, revisions to rules of order to be reviewed by Administrator/Controller Lisa Sagala, and multiple committee and external board appointments. The meeting adjourned at 9:29 a.m.
