Rolette County to advertise for five Water Board openings after concerns over missed meetings

Rolette County commissioners agreed Jan. 7 to advertise for community interest in five Water Board openings after expressing concern about the current board's operations. Henry LaRocque said the three-person board “has not been having meetings and taken minutes and how bills are not being paid timely,” and he recommended restoring the panel to five members.
Commissioner Abrahamson asked whether a commissioner could sit on the Water Board; the board discussed conflict-of-interest concerns and concluded a commissioner serving on the board would likely present a conflict. Mark Hienz, who is a current board member, told commissioners he still wants to remain on the board and is open to whatever reorganization the commission pursues. The board then voted unanimously on a motion to advertise for two weeks for interest from the community for five openings.
