Board establishes Opioid Prevention Coordinator position funded by settlement, requires periodic reapproval

Vernon County on Dec. 19 adopted Resolution 2024-59 to establish an Opioid Prevention Coordinator position to be housed in the Human Services Department and paid from opioid settlement funds. Motion by Supv Eggen to adopt the resolution carried after discussion; Administrative Coordinator Cassandra Hanan presented the proposal.
Supv Beitlich proposed, and the board adopted, an amendment requiring the position be reapproved by the County Board every three years because of the nature of the funding. The appended resolution states the 2025 budget amendment includes "$25,033.36 for wages and fringe which shall be paid for by the Opioid Settlement funds."
