Community Services staff reported that the department's proposed budget was presented to the City Council on June 1 and is on the council agenda for adoption on June 15. "That budget is scheduled for adoption at the June 15 council meeting," staff said, and noted council support with only minor modifications.
Staff also relayed legal guidance obtained from the city attorney regarding SB 707 and Brown Act implications for advisory commissions: the city attorney advised that the SB 707 remote-public-comment provisions—which take effect July 1—apply to live-streamed city council meetings and do not require commissions to accept remote public commentor provide an hour-long break to recover audio if audio is lost. Staff encouraged commissioners to email the clerk if they plan to attend the council meeting to receive a proclamation during National Parks and Recreation Month.
