Vernon County adopts rewritten Recruitment & Selection policy to standardize hiring

The Vernon County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 19 adopted an updated Policy 101 — Recruitment & Selection — intended to standardize hiring across county departments. Motion by Supv Olson to “adopt Resolution 2024-58” carried on a voice vote after Human Resources Director Lepke presented the revisions and described them as procedural.
Sheriff Torgerson raised a concern that a longer approval process could interfere with adding on-call staff; Lepke told the board the Sheriff’s Office has the ability to hire on-call staff and that HR is “only asking that we complete the process and have all of the paperwork completed to ensure consistency.” The resolution was adopted unanimously on a voice vote.
