City manager, public works and parks give updates on conservation and summer events

City Manager Mr. Stevens gave the council a staff report noting that the city’s trail system was recognized by DFW Child Magazine readers and that Phase 1 water conservation is in effect through the 30th, prohibiting outdoor watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. He also announced the 2nd annual Fire Truck Pull on June 13 to benefit Special Olympics Texas and said the City Secretary's office is accepting applications for a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board vacancy.
Public Works Director Scott Christen described Public Works responsibilities and said departmental crews focus on street repair, water distribution, drainage and facilities maintenance. Parks staff previewed 'Celebrate Highland Village' scheduled for June 13 and Summer Camp registration (June 1–Aug 7). The manager and staff asked residents to consult city webpages for additional program and permit details and directed staff to provide more information on public questions about reuse of Highland Village Elementary at an upcoming meeting.
