County staff flag $114,259 increase in Tyler software renewal

County staff told the McLennan County Commissioners Court that a renewal notice from Tyler, the county's vendor for core software, shows a total renewal amount higher than the number included in the proposed budget.
John Carter, a county staff member who presented the notice, said the vendor's letter lists an overall renewal price of "$1,251,624.55," representing an increase of "$114,259.55" over the budget figure. Carter said staff is asking Tyler for a line-by-line breakdown to determine which product lines the increase affects and whether the increase complies with the contract's annual-raise term.
"We're checking against the contract because the contract states that they can only raise at a maximum of 5% each year," Carter said. He told the court staff will try to provide the detailed numbers before the budget is finalized.
Chair indicated the committee should provisionally include the maximum amount in the budget worksheet until staff confirms the contractual calculation, and that any necessary adjustments could be made after staff reports back. Staff committed to return with a reconciled line-item detail and a recommendation before the court adopts the final budget.
The court did not take a vote on the item; staff said they will follow up with a revised projection and the contract analysis at the next session.
