Board appoints JoAnn DeGraaf as grant administrator, approves remonumentation grant actions

Kalkaska County appointed JoAnn DeGraaf as Grant Administrator effective Jan. 1, 2025, authorized her to apply for a $46,502 Survey and Remonumentation Grant, approved the Remonumentation Peer Review Group, and authorized related agreements and payments.
The Board appointed JoAnn DeGraaf to serve as Grant Administrator beginning Jan. 1, 2025, until the end of her term or until she ceases to be the elected Register of Deeds. The motion (moved by David Comai, supported by Scott Matley) passed by consensus with no opposition. The Board also authorized DeGraaf to apply for the 2025 Survey and Remonumentation Grant in the amount of $46,502 and authorized Chair Fisher and DeGraaf to sign the 2025 grant agreement.
In addition, the Board approved the Surveyor Services Agreement and established the Kalkaska County Remonumentation Peer Review Group — Neil Way, Scott Papineau and Marvin Meyers as members, with alternates Dave Gillette and Edward Heglin and the County Equalization Director as an ad hoc member. Peer reviewers will be paid up to $300 per member from 2025 State grant funds. The Board also authorized a $2,000 payment to DeGraaf as Remonumentation Grant Administrator.
