Chairman Dave Borchardt raised concerns about tax being erroneously applied to village credit-card purchases and instructed staff to notify card users of the issue. 'There are still issues with taxes being charged,' Borchardt said, noting that a reminder should be circulated to cardholders to avoid improper tax collection on municipal transactions.
The committee did not take additional action at the meeting beyond requesting staff send reminders to cardholders. Clerk/Treasurer Stephanie Waala and finance staff will follow up to ensure card users are aware of the correct procedure for exempt municipal purchases and that any incorrectly charged taxes are addressed according to village policy.
