The Billings County Commission approved a temporary Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to allow a siren and radio equipment at the courthouse to address a communications gap in the valley.
Agency official (speaker 11) described the agreement as a temporary placement while a permanent solution is developed. "That's basically to secure the courthouse for a siren site for the new radio system, to fill the communication gap down in the valley," the official said. The plan requires the county to provide power and permit any antenna mounts on the building; staff said the AG's office had reviewed and suggested edits to the draft.
Under the timeline discussed, the equipment must be in place and fully operational by May 15 and would be removed by the end of September under the current temporary terms. The commission made a motion to enter into the MOU, the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. County counsel confirmed the MOU had been reviewed by the AG's office and described as a final version ready for the board's action.
Staff were directed to arrange signatures and follow the AG's input for execution of the final paperwork.
