Sean James of the Island Sheriff's Patrol updated the council on recent local incidents and patrol responses.
James said extra patrols will be assigned to investigate use of the Honey Hill dirt path as a construction detour and whether the access is public or private. He summarized recent incidents: a June 22 shoplifting at Walgreens (multiple items taken), recovered and returned license tags, multiple vehicle entries (Hampshire and Valley Forge), an embezzlement charge of $220 at Bojangles, and a domestic-violence incident on Bradford and Prescott for which warrants are being sought. James also said a person identified at Baxter-Patrick Library for exposing himself has been identified and is being handled.
Council members asked clarifying questions about Honey Hill access and detour signage; James said he would coordinate with the mayor and put extra patrols in place.
