A resident who identified herself as Melissa told the Charleston County Flooding Task Force that multiple multifamily and commercial properties on Fleming Road have experienced repeated interior and exterior flooding and shared photos and video with staff. "With an estimated 400 plus people living directly on the street," Melissa said, she asked DOT and county staff to reassess the culvert in front of 272 Fleming Road and to widen and regrade undersized ditches where easements already exist.
Task-force leaders and staff agreed to schedule an on-site visit within 60 days to bring city, county and DOT representatives to the location to document conditions and discuss potential remedies. Senator Ed Sutton told the resident staff would help get her matter into the portal and that Philip would draft an action plan. County staff flagged that some drainage work requires easement access from multiple private owners and that negotiations or condemnation are often slow and costly.
