James Island reports a roughly 14% revenue increase at fiscal year end

The Town of James Island closed the fiscal year with stronger-than-expected revenues, the council heard Tuesday.
Mike Hammer presented the June 30 report and said overall revenues were "over 14% of the overall budget," which he quantified as about $699,488. He cited higher insurance tax receipts, increased building-permit revenue after bringing permitting in-house, business-license collections and donations for the Art and Community Center as contributors.
Hammer told council that most departments were under budget and invited questions; council members offered brief thanks for the work of staff. The finance presentation was delivered as part of the council’s regular monthly reports and will be posted with meeting materials for further review.
