Richardson outlines Juneteenth lineup, vendors and outreach plan

Mr. Richardson, the committee member who presented the Juneteenth update, said stage entertainment is largely finalized and staff are closing vendor contracts. "So we have our DJ, DJ Oscar. We'll have, our headline and band will be Soul Pocket. We have, musical guest, Rick Sexton," he said, and added that a spoken-word performer (JG, stage name Jugga) is scheduled.
Richardson told members about vendor outreach and logistics: as of the last week he reported roughly 10 retail vendors had signed and paid, and one vendor (Gray Fox House) was still finalizing insurance and a W-9. He urged the task group to push a flyer via social media and to distribute double-sided cards listing Juneteenth and the multicultural festival. Committee member (4) said the $200 fee to engage Karen Brem (a Dayton Metro Library special collections librarian) to moderate a short educational video and roundtable fits the event budget and recommended scheduling a call to finalize the content. "That's the $200," the member said when asked about Brem's honorarium.
The committee discussed using the volunteer appreciation dinner to briefly promote Juneteenth and the multicultural festival, and agreed to continue vendor recruitment through the end of April. The committee deferred any formal vote on the educational video to scheduling and budgeting discussions at an upcoming meeting.
