The council approved Ordinance 2026-625 on first reading and waived the second reading to allow an accessory dwelling unit above ground floor on a lot smaller than 1,500 square feet per dwelling unit at 332–336 East Lincoln Highway. City staff said applicant Adrian Cordova intends to put an efficiency apartment into underused upstairs space in a triangular, historic downtown building and that the planning and zoning commission recommended approval.
Alderman Zazada noted national support for accessory dwelling units as a tool to add housing supply; the council voted by roll call to pass the ordinance on first reading and waive the second reading so the permit may be processed without delay.
