Forney council approves $25,000 from council budget to support Layton Senior Center

Mr. Scott, president of the Senior Connect site council, described broken kitchen equipment, drainage problems, warped tables and a waiting list for Meals-on-Wheels clients. "We could get by on as little as $6,000 a year," he said when describing recurring shortfalls, but urged more immediate repairs to support daily services. Councilmember Solgado moved to transfer $25,000 from the council budget for the center; Councilmember Schlenzker seconded and the motion passed. City staff indicated the ordinance amendment would be assigned ordinance number 20617 and the funds would be directed to address the identified equipment and facility needs.
The vote was recorded as passing and council asked staff to coordinate with the senior-center board on procurement and immediate repairs; no further contested debate took place on that item.
