Engineers present two Library Bay boardwalk concepts; public workshop set for June 23

Brandon Fuller of Vierbicher presented two concept options for new boardwalks and walkways at Library Bay. Option one locates an ADA switchback on the southern property edge with a boardwalk of wood and asphalt and a brick gateway path. Option two places the ADA switchback on the northern edge, uses an all-wood boardwalk, and specifies a concrete gateway path. The concepts were presented to the Joint Beautification/Lake, Parks, and Recreation Committee on June 9, 2026.
Committee members and members of the public suggested alternatives and refinements: stamped concrete for the gateway, removing the ADA switchback altogether, adding a sidewalk on Lake Drive, stairs from the gateway down to the boardwalk, and using wood between the piers but asphalt on the stretch to the fishing pier. Engineer Flunker told the committees the next step is to present the designs to the public at the June 23 workshop for additional input.
