TCEDC pushes for Red River Event Center start pending Nodak Electric financing
Summary
TCEDC staff said construction on the Red River Event Center (including Pifer’s Auction) will proceed once Nodak Electric financing and a Phase 1 environmental study are complete; staff are coordinating with Hillsboro Development to begin Phase 1 as soon as financing is secured.

Executive Director Jim Murphy told the board TCEDC is working with Hillsboro Development to move construction on the Red River Event Center forward, contingent on Nodak Electric completing financing and a Phase 1 environmental study.
"We want to get construction started ... as long as Nodak Electric’s financing is done, including a Phase 1 environmental study," Murphy said. The project discussion referenced Pifer’s Auction as part of the event center plan and emphasized coordination with local partners to begin work promptly after financing is in place.
Why it matters: The event center is presented as a local economic-development anchor tied to private and utility financing; advancing the project would affect local construction activity and event-hosting capacity. Murphy said staff will continue follow-up with developers and utility partners to align the financing and required environmental review.
