Mayor Pro Tem summarized the CCPD’s history: voters established the district in 2013 and extended it in 2017 through 2032. The fund is supported by a dedicated 0.08-cent sales tax and, according to staff remarks, provides an approximate property-tax equivalent relief of 3 cents on the city’s property tax rate by funding targeted public-safety initiatives outside the general fund.
No members of the public spoke on the budget during the hearing. Council moved to adopt the budget as presented and the motion carried unanimously. No immediate changes to CCPD programming were announced in the meeting; staff will implement the adopted appropriation for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
