Margarita Middle School modernization includes amphitheater, storm-drain replacement and MPR renovation

Margarita Middle School is receiving a package of modernization work this summer that includes a new amphitheater, replacement of a failing storm drain, renovation of the multi-purpose room and upgrades to the fire alarm system and HVAC, Scott Casper said during a tour.
Casper said the amphitheater is intended to provide shaded outdoor space for lunches and events and also to serve as a flexible learning area. "It can be used as a learning space too that has some shade in the outdoors," he said. He also noted the district is "pouring concrete, putting the sidewalks back" as part of broader site work.
Casper described fixing a storm drain that had been collapsing in sections: "So we took this as an opportunity to replace the storm drain out to the street," he said, calling the repair a way to remove a recurring maintenance worry for campus operations.
District representatives did not provide specific completion dates or cost figures during the visit.
