The Board discussed distributing oral rabies vaccine (ORV) baits as a possible mitigation measure. Ms. Cetrulo said she has reached out to the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and is awaiting additional information. An action item assigned Dr. Choi to forward information about ORV-bait use in Cape May County.
During the Nursing Report, Dr. Choi told the Board she believes USDA funding may be available to support distribution of ORV pods and said she would send details about where pods have been deployed and evidence of effectiveness. The Nursing Report, which included rabies and tick activity, was approved unanimously.
