Temecula Valley Unified outlines wide summer construction program ahead of school year

Temecula Valley Unified is carrying out multiple summer construction and modernization projects across its campuses as staff prepare sites for the new school year, Scott Casper, construction coordinator for the district’s facilities department, said during a tour at Margarita Middle School.
"We start planning early before the summertime gets here," Casper said, describing months of design and preplanning that let crews "hit the ground running" when school is out. The work ranges from major building projects to targeted infrastructure and comfort upgrades intended to improve safety and daily operations for students and staff.
District leaders emphasized the scale of the effort: the host noted Temecula Valley Unified serves "over 27,000 students" across 29 school sites, and Casper described the projects as part of routine maintenance and modernization to make campuses cooler in summer, warmer in winter and fit for instruction. Specific projects discussed included a full building at Nicholas Valley Elementary, phased construction at Temecula Elementary, new athletic scoreboards and several shade structures, plus site-specific repairs at Margarita Middle School.
