County hears several department reports; further discussion planned on opioid settlement and IT staffing

Several scheduled appointments and presentations were heard March 18. At 9:10 a.m. Sheriff Corey Bristol presented vehicle quotes (see separate item). At 9:20 a.m. Scott Wheeler requested a letter of support for a Lawrence Welk proclamation recognizing the entertainer’s Strasburg roots; the board adopted the letter of support by unanimous vote.
At 9:30 a.m. Laurie Johnson, Correctional Administrator, presented the county per diem for housing prisoners and proposed using opioid settlement monies to purchase continuous and autonomous vitals monitoring devices; the board deferred further discussion to a future meeting. At 9:40 a.m. Disaster Emergency Manager Warren Bogert discussed requirements to access LEPC and Fire & Ambulance funds; commissioners asked for additional follow‑up. At 10:00 a.m. Shaun Ahlgren of Armor Interactive discussed stationing an IT person in Mountrail County one day per week; compensation and implementation details were left for later consideration.
