The Hutto Public Library reported staffing and usage improvements at the advisory-board meeting, with staff saying the branch is fully staffed and grant activity is underway.
"We are fully staffed, and everybody has been acclimated," the library report said. The director (S2) walked members through patron counts for early 2026, noting typical spring dips and anticipated spikes in June–August. The library also highlighted program changes and said study rooms are now tightly scheduled to improve turnover.
Volunteers shifted from largely teen participation in 2025 to predominantly adult volunteers after new volunteer coordination; monthly volunteer visits rose from the 20s and 30s to the 50s. Staff also began recording non-English interactions in February: "Since February, we've had six Spanish-only patrons and one Vietnamese-only patron," the report said, prompting a request to pilot three Vasco translation devices so staff can provide real-time, respectful service.
The director framed translators as a shared pilot resource: if effective, other city departments could borrow devices, and the library would keep data to support broader adoption.
