Roscommon County places 0.476-mill road millage renewal on August 4 ballot

On March 11, 2026, the Roscommon County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt Resolution No. 2026-03-02 to place a renewal of the Local Road Improvement millage on the August 4, 2026 primary election ballot. The proposed renewal would allow a levy of up to 0.4760 mills ($0.476 per $1,000 of taxable value) for five years, 2026 through 2030, reduced from the previous 0.5000 mills ($0.500 per $1,000) by required rollbacks.
The resolution presents the ballot question language and notes: "If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $897,228.42 for Roscommon County in 2026." The motion to place the millage on the ballot was made by Commissioner Marc J. Milburn and seconded by Commissioner Rex Wolfsen; roll call was Morley, Milburn, Wolfsen — ayes. The board also noted that by law the Village of Roscommon Downtown Development Authority (DDA) may capture the portion of millage collected from properties within its district boundaries.
