School resource officer outlines recent safety upgrades at Mason schools

SRO Bill Rollins briefed the Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education on Oct. 1 about a multi-year effort to strengthen safety and security at district facilities. Rollins described equipment upgrades, staff training, building modifications and the placement of "go bags" in every classroom and space, and said regular practice drills have been conducted.
The superintendent placed the briefing on the agenda as part of routine safety updates to the board; no formal action was required. Board members did not ask for additional motions but noted the district has also contracted Lockout USA for further assessments of athletic and outdoor spaces, including stadium and field areas.
