Administration: finance search paused, 2025 budget hearing set for Nov. 12; DNR recycling award announced

Administrative Coordinator Cassandra Hanan updated the board on several administrative matters during the Oct. 17 meeting. She said four applications were received for three citizen seats on the Flood Mitigation Alliance, the planning commission is working toward a January public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan, and the GenGov committee paused the finance director recruitment after interviewing candidates with no hire made; Hanan will continue as interim finance director until the process resumes in January.
Hanan also reported that the Kayla Fortney case was settled with a deferred prosecution agreement, the county rebranding project is moving forward, and staff meetings will be scheduled at Vernon Manor and Vernon Acres. Solid Waste & Recycling Director Stacie Sanborn told the board Vernon County will receive a DNR Recycling Excellence award. Hanan said the 2025 budget public hearing is scheduled for Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m.
