Barnwell County Council voted April 14, 2026, to make a zoning area available for a proposed mobile home dealership to be known as SC Homes of Barnwell. Councilman Travis Hooper moved to approve the zoning; Councilman David Kenner seconded and the motion carried.
Mr. Polk, the applicant, told the council the dealership would be located across from the school and that the parcel would be separated from the campus with chain-link fencing. Chairman Freddie L. Houston Sr. and council members gave no recorded opposition and instructed Mr. Polk to draft a letter for Chairman Houston’s approval. The minutes record the motion carried but do not include a roll-call tally.
