Finance director seeks $450,806 net budget reduction, RTA bus shelter funding

Jim also requested adding $9,500 for a copier, $3,600 for gas tax fund auditor fees, and $46,500 to construct an RTA bus shelter: $20,000 would come from a Dayton Foundation Age-Friendly grant and $20,000 from a Dayton RTA grant, leaving the city's share at $6,500. Major reductions included removing a $374,546 firefighters assistance grant (spent in 2025) and $206,000 no-longer-needed water bond service fund budget. Jim asked the council to waive the second reading to approve the changes at the upcoming meeting.
Council asked clarifying questions about the water-bond history and whether the copier omission was inadvertent; Jim offered to follow up on historical details. The council moved the appropriation package forward and staff will present the ordinances for action.
