Huber Heights staff to get online diversity training; commission seeks rollout dates and board inclusion

The Huber Heights Cultural and Diversity Commission was told the city will re‑engage diversity training for staff with online modules and tracking for completion. Jeffrey, a city staff member who updated the commission, said the rollout is expected in late March or the start of the city’s second quarter but staff would confirm exact dates.
"I'll circle back with Katie and get an understanding of when it's going out and exactly personnel, as well as, means, for the training," Jeffrey said, pledging a follow‑up to the commission. Commissioners pressed for clarity about whether boards and commissions would be required to participate and whether collective‑bargaining agreements would limit mandatory status.
Commissioners recalled previous in‑person sessions in 2022 and described a hybrid model used then—both in‑person sessions and an on‑demand video component. One commissioner said the training had been "required" before. Staff said the current plan centers on online videos with administrative tracking, but that he would confirm whether boards and commissions would be included and whether in‑person options would be offered.
The commission requested a concrete schedule (topics, dates and modality), clarification on who must complete the training, and a written update to be provided to the commission by mid‑March or, at latest, early April. No formal action was taken; staff committed to report back with confirmed dates and modality.
