Attorney Brian McGrail presented variances for an 85‑unit apartment building at an unnumbered parcel on Foster Street, noting the proposal replaces an outdated lumberyard and would eliminate truck traffic associated with the existing use. He argued the site constraints and topography support relief and said the proposal furthers housing production goals.
Ward 4 Councilor Paul Argenzio and other councilors spoke in support, saying the project would increase foot traffic for nearby businesses on Broadway and reduce conflicts between school traffic and lumberyard vehicle activity. Jamie Russo, the manager for the applicant, confirmed the redevelopment would increase parking relative to current lumberyard conditions. The ZBA voted to grant the requested variances with standard conditions.
