Conservation panel to monitor Plankey Spring after low-level coliform detection

Chair Richard Batchelder told the Conservation Commission that a water sample taken from Plankey Spring on May 18 was submitted to the State lab and overall "passed," but the test detected total coliform at 2.0 MPN/100mL. Commission members questioned where official thresholds for coliform are defined and agreed the Commission should determine appropriate parameters for future interpretation.
Members noted the last full battery test was done about a year and a half ago (probably in November) and agreed to schedule a full battery test in August. The discussion also covered litter and discarded items at the spring and a social-media post requesting the Town increase flow; Mr. Shaun Lagueux said he posted that the spring is not a Town-managed water source.
