Henry County shifts solid-waste funds to cover inmate meal and recycling center needs

The Henry County Commission approved Resolution 2-11-25 to amend the Solid Waste Fund budget and cover food-supplies cost increases at the Recycling Center. The transfer reallocates $4,500 into account 55751-422 'Food Supplies' to continue providing meals for inmate crews who perform sorting, vehicle maintenance and grounds work.
Solid Waste Manager Ron Watkins described that the Recycling Center is working five to six inmates daily and that food costs and other consumables have nearly depleted the existing line. Commissioner Charles Elizondo moved to approve the budget transfer and Commissioner Kenneth Humphreys seconded; roll-call in the minutes records the motion as carried.
