County clerk reviews records, elections and new property-alert service

Michelle, the county Clerk and Register of Deeds, gave commissioners a year-in-review of her offices' operations and upcoming election schedule. She told the board the clerk's office processed 275 death certificates, 120 marriage licenses and three birth certificates in 2025 and performed 16 marriage ceremonies. "The county clerk and register of deeds offices are the official keeper of the records," she said, and reviewed duties that include DBAs, CPLs, jury management and election administration.
Michelle also described election readiness: two special elections were held in May 2025 (fully reimbursed), ballots for the next election were ordered, programming was being tested, and ballot materials must be delivered to clerks by March 21 for the May election cycle. She highlighted a new property-alert service with 252 subscribers and said staff will promote signups at three commission-on-aging centers in April and May. Commissioners said the report would be useful for upcoming county budget-education outreach.
