Huntington council handles multiple appointments, resignations and staffing moves

Personnel actions included hiring Sam Jeffryes as Public Works Supervisor/Wastewater Operator following an executive session and approving additional public works hires (Fischer Shank and Michael Carlsen). The council reviewed and approved raises: Boxberger’s hourly rate was raised to $22/hour on a 3‑1 vote with one recusal; other staff received wage adjustments after six‑month reviews. The council also authorized opening recruitment for a part‑time Deputy City Recorder (600 hours/year) to provide coverage for city‑hall duties.
Council members said the staffing changes and wage adjustments were necessary to stabilize operations after prior vacancies and to ensure continuity for critical services such as wastewater treatment and public records processing.
