Planning Commission hears development updates: SPCA move delayed, micro-hospital permits pending, truck parking handled at mall

Staff (Eddie, S8) told the commission that the development pipeline has slowed and that several projects are moving more slowly than expected. He said the animal-control facility next door is progressing with interior work, but the SPCA’s move has been delayed because custom-ordered materials are not yet delivered.
On the proposed micro-hospital near the Kelsey-Seybold site, staff said permit markups were returned to the applicant but fees had not been paid and permits had not been picked up, leaving the permit inactive. Staff also said truck parking previously discussed is currently solved by an agreement that allows trucks to use a mall lot near Dillard’s, which the operator prefers because it is cheaper than building separate truck parking on-site.
