Four Oaks proposes small property tax increase; fire tax share rises to 12.7 cents

Commissioners approved a small increase to the town property tax rate in the FY 2026–2027 budget, raising the overall rate from 39.5 cents to 40.7 cents per $100 valuation, an increase of 1.2 cents. The fire department tax component is projected at 12.7 cents per $100 valuation based on countywide projections; after that allocation the Town's operating share is 28.0 cents per $100.
The change was presented by Town Administrator Barry Stanley during the budget presentation; no commissioner questions were recorded during the hearing. The board approved the budget with the tax-rate change in place by a 4–1 vote on June 15, 2026.
