NextEra announces about $2.1 million in road‑use payments to Pueblo County; $25,000 United Way gift

"We did already provide Public Works with a check for about $1,400,000 related to our Highland solar project that's recently started construction," a NextEra presenter said, and noted additional checks of about $464,000 for the Mirasol road‑use agreement and $284,000 for the Thunder Wolf project. The presenter said the three projects together represent roughly $2.1 million in payments for road agreements. Mark Goble of NextEra added that the company approved a separate $25,000 contribution to the United Way and said the company intends to "continue communication with the county and with public works ... and minimize the impact to the road as much as possible."
Commissioners and county staff thanked the company and discussed how any remaining funds might be used for road repair. The presentation emphasized the company’s stated intent to coordinate with county departments during construction and to use the new, streamlined road‑use agreement process going forward.
