Kay County BOCC approves minutes, payroll and a broad set of purchase claims

The Board of County Commissioners of Kay County approved routine governance items at its Jan. 20, 2026 meeting in Newkirk, including the Jan. 12 regular meeting minutes and the release of payroll warrants to be issued Jan. 22, 2026. The motions carried unanimously with Chairman Jeff Kreger, Vice-Chairman Jason Shanks and Member Shane Jones all recorded as voting aye.
The board also approved Maintenance & Operation claims and blanket purchase orders across several departments. The certified claims and purchase orders presented by County Clerk Tammy Reese included, among many line items, a jail debt payment listed as Kay County JFA #124183 for $374,330.83 and multiple recurring vendor charges and road‑work purchases (Cornerstone Crushing rock purchases and others). The clerk noted that detailed records for all purchase orders and claims are available in the County Clerk’s Office for public inspection during regular hours.
The board’s action completes routine fiscal oversight steps for the county’s operating period. There were no votes recorded against these items and no amendments to the claims list. The meeting adjourned at 9:33 a.m.
