ADRC reports World Elder Abuse Awareness Day turnout, volunteer hours and voucher availability

At the June 22 meeting Ms. Mya Olkowski summarized recent ADRC outreach and operational measures. She said the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event on June 18 drew 30 participants for bingo, entertainment from the Hodag Hunnies, an APS information segment from social workers Jean Sutherland-Kreger and Traci Caswell, and a presentation by Donna Rosner, GWAAR Elder Abuse Specialist. A meal by Lynn's Catering and cupcakes were served. Olkowski also announced a Fun Friday "Let's Go Fishing" boat ride on Boom Lake scheduled for June 26 at 1:00 p.m.; reservations are available via the ADRC phone number listed on the calendar.
On operational measures Olkowski reported 1,199 outcome-based volunteer hours documented by RSVP Coordinator Lori Ring in April 2026. She said the AmeriCorps grant has not been finalized. Farmer's Market vouchers are available at the ADRC front desk for Oneida County residents age 60 or older (or 55+ for Native American households) who meet household income requirements. Olkowski also noted ADRC call and walk-in totals and APS referrals are slightly down compared with the same time last year.
