Council selects three finalists for Riverbank city-flag public vote

After reviewing first- and second-round submissions, council chose three finalists — Everett Bridgewater, Luis Uribe and Max Labeaux — to send to a public vote; staff will provide a digitized mock-up of the hand-drawn finalist for display.
Staff presented two rounds of entries to help the council pick finalists for a city flag. The design rules required simple, symbolic flags without text or seals. Council members individually ranked entries; a 3-way tie-break produced three finalists: an Everett Bridgewater design that includes the rocket at Jacob Meyers Park, a Luis Uribe design highlighting the ferry, river and a bridge motif, and a Max Labeaux design with a triangular river motif and agricultural imagery.
Council directed staff to work with the media vendor to put the three finalists into a public survey and to digitalize the hand-drawn finalist so residents can preview how it would appear as an actual flag. The council said the winning design will receive a $250 prize and become the city’s official flag once council finalizes selection from the public vote.
