City Clerk Gabby Hernandez explained the recruitment process for the Riverbank Youth Council: 21 applications were received, 19 interviews conducted, and the top eight scorers recommended for appointment. Hernandez said recruitment targeted local high schools and outreach included social media, school flyers, and community events.
Council appointed the eight candidates by motion; the cohort will take their oath of office and begin the term in August 2026. A former youth-council chair praised the candidates and encouraged them to pursue civic engagement. Council congratulated the new members and staff said an orientation and presentations to council are planned during their term.
