"Just put a bullet there that it will be an electrical tax for use of the road," the committee member said, expressing concern that EVs impose wear on roads without equivalent gas-tax revenue. Commissioners agreed the plan should avoid presenting apples-to-oranges comparisons and that a short explanatory note or disclaimer is appropriate.
The commission did not adopt any tax policy; members asked staff to include the cautionary language in the plan so readers understand possible future charges and upfront installation costs.
