Melody Squire updated the committee on welcome-sign options, saying a comparable sign had been quoted at $400 and that the sign company specified a 36-by-36-inch size. "It was $400," Squire said when reporting the vendor quote.
She also reported local-supplier prices: a mailbox-post arm option priced at $50 and pressure-treated 4x4x8 posts at $13.76 each (about $27.52 per sign for two posts). Committee members discussed using MDO plywood or synthetic substrates; one member noted plywood sheets commonly run "$60 to $80." The group discussed using 10-foot posts if the prototype appeared tall in photos and considering a protective roof for the signs.
Squire said she plans to collect vendor quotes and complete a grant application to the Tinmouth Community Fund, which has a $1,200 cap for nonprofit and town-committee grants; given preliminary estimates, the committee could fund at least three signs and perhaps a fourth. Three local artists — Bess Lewis, Meredith Pratt and Chris Caraboo — volunteered to prepare designs.
