Administrator/Controller Jodi Shaltz presented the Roscommon County 2025 year-end closing process to the Budget & Finance Committee on Feb. 25, 2026 and reported specific line items that drove the change in reserves. She said the county began 2025 with $2,167,309.19, recorded revenues over budget by $880,806.00 and expenses under budget by $854,527.68, producing an estimated 2025 year-end balance of $3,698,761.18 and a projected 2026 fund balance of 30.45%.
Shaltz told the committee the strengthened fund balance "will allow there to be funds available for building improvements, and other projects" and emphasized that departments operating on voted millages should maintain a fund balance equivalent to one year of operating funds. No motions or votes were taken on the year-end report at the special meeting; the figures were provided for committee review and planning.
